Limb on Line Causes 20-Minute Outage for 1,436

March 26, 2014 – A gust of wind blew a tree limb into the power lines along Highway 30 on Tuesday afternoon, causing a 20-minute outage for 1,436 customers of Columbia River People’s Utility District in Columbia City and Deer Island.

The outage began at 3:17 p.m. PUD crews removed the tree limb from the line and restored power to all customers at 3:37 p.m.

“The wind was really blowing,” said Line Crew Foreman John Shaffer, who responded to the outage call. “It blew that limb over 100 feet sideways and into the power lines.”
