They’ve been working more than 40 hours straight. They’ll be back ready to go at 5:00 a.m. Wednesday to continue working on restoration efforts. Outage update – April 12, 1:30 p.m.

We have received several calls from customers whose power has come back on for a short time and then gone out again. This is likely from what’s known as ‘cold load pickup.’ Once power is restored, the system is overloaded and a fuse is blown. Turning off major appliances, specifically electric furnaces, at the breaker can help prevent this. Once power is restored, wait a while and then turn these appliances back on.

Our crews continue to restore power as quickly and safely as they possibly can to as many people as they can.

Crews made good progress overnight. We still have about 1,000 customers out. A lot of the outages left are smaller outages, so it could be a slow process restoring power to all customers. A crew from Forest Grove arrived last night around 9:30 p.m. and worked through the night. Crews are continuing to work today.

Our crews have been working since midnight to restore power to our customers. They will continue working through the night and overnight into Tuesday. Unfortunately, because of extensive storm damage, restoration has been a slow process. We have no way of predicting how many customers our crews will be able to restore power to tonight. It is safe to say we will not be able to restore power to everyone tonight. If you can make arrangements to find a warm place to stay, please do so now. This is not easy, and we cannot thank you enough for your understanding and your patience.
