St. Helens Senior Center Receives Grant from CRPUD

July 23, 2018 – The St. Helens Senior Center will receive funding from Columbia River PUD to expand its sales floor at Top Notch Thrift Store.

The CRPUD Board of Directors voted at the July 17 meeting to award an Economic Development Grant of $1,773.50 to the Senior Center for the project.

Top Notch helps fund Senior Center activities and programs, including Meals on Wheels. Store Manager Kathy Innocenti informed the PUD Board that during the grant writing process, the Scappoose Senior Center’s Meals on Wheels Program ran out of funding and is now operated by the St. Helens Senior Center.

“There’s even more meals that the St. Helens Senior Center is responsible for, and therefore we want to provide them with as much money as we possibly can,” Innocenti said.

The PUD grant will help Top Notch fund the addition of a children’s department to its sales floor. A larger sales area will enable the store to earn more money for Meals on Wheels and other programs at the Senior Center.

“On behalf of the board, we appreciate what you’re doing,” PUD Board President Jake Carter said to Innocenti.

This is the second grant awarded under the PUD’s new Economic Development Grant Program.
