Our electric rates are changing on April 1, 2025. We are implementing an overall 7.5% increase due to anticipated cost increases from Bonneville Power Administration, our wholesale power provider.

Current projections show an 8% increase in wholesale power costs from BPA and a 19% increase in transmission costs from BPA. That translates to a roughly 15% overall increase in costs for us.

To avoid having a double-digit rate increase at once, we intend to spread that increase out over 2 years.

We are implementing an overall 7.5% system-wide increase on April 1. This will affect each rate class differently.

BPA will announce its final rate recommendation in July, after which we will be able to determine how much of an increase is necessary in 2026, if any.

Our average residential customer is looking at a roughly $9 per month increase. That will vary customer to customer based on usage.

The average usage for a residential CRPUD customer is 1,100 kWh per month. With our current rates, that means their average monthly bill is $101.59. With the new rates, it will be $110.69.

As of April 1, our residential and small commercial customers will see a $2.50 increase on their monthly base charge and a 0.6¢ per kilowatt hour increase on their energy charge. For residential customers, that means a new base charge of $25 per month and a new energy charge of 7.79¢ per kWh. For small commercial customers, those amounts will be $38.50 and 8.33¢.

Those 2 classes represent 98% of our customers.

Customers who qualify for our Special Waiver and Income-Qualified Senior Discount will see their monthly base charge go from $4.50 per month to $5 per month.

Our large commercial and industrial customers will see a 0.32¢ per kWh increase on their energy charge and a 40¢ per kilowatt increase on their demand charge. Large commercial customers' base charge will increase by $2.50 to $70.50, while industrial customers' will remain at either $120 or $200, depending on their rate schedule.

Customers can see what their new bills will look like with the new rates by entering their latest monthly usage into our rate calculator.
