Our electric rates are changing on April 1. We are implementing an overall 7.6% increase due to increased costs implemented by the Bonneville Power Administration, our wholesale power provider. Our wholesale power costs increased 8.9% and our transmission costs went up 19.5% effective October 1, 2025.
Power costs from BPA constitute roughly half of our budget. All of the power we distribute comes from BPA.
As of April 1, our residential customers will see a $5 increase on their monthly base charge and a 0.31¢ per kilowatt hour increase on their energy charge. That means a new base charge of $30 per month and a new energy charge of 8.10¢ per kWh.
Our small commercial customers will pay a base charge of $46.50 per month and an energy charge of 8.73¢ per kWh. That is an $8 increase on the monthly base charge and a 0.40¢ per kWh increase.
Those two classes represent 96% of our customers.
Our large commercial customers will see a 0.44¢ per kWh increase on their energy charge and a 70¢ per kilowatt increase on their demand charge. Their base charge will increase by $5 to $75.50.
Industrial customers' energy charge will increase by 0.08¢ per kWh and their demand charge will increase by 76¢ per kilowatt. Their monthly base charge will go from $200 to $360.
For our average residential customer using 1,100 kWh per month, it will be an increase of about $8.40 per month. That amount will vary for each customer based on the amount of electricity they use. You can see how your monthly bill will be affected here.
Customers who qualify for our Special Waiver and Income-Qualified Senior Discount will see their monthly base charge go from $5 to $6 per month.
