I’m excited to share a tremendous opportunity for young people in our community. While frosty mornings make summer seem far away, we’re already gearing up for an exciting part of our summer program: hiring a Utility Engineering Intern.
Over the past several years, our Engineering Department has brought on a summer intern, providing valuable experience to a high school senior or college engineering student. This is a paid, 40-hour-per-week position during the student’s summer break. To qualify, applicants must live within our service area.

This internship offers the chance to gain hands-on experience in the electric industry. Our intern will work alongside our experienced team of engineers, analyzing data and applying it to projects that benefit our customers. This role provides an inside look at how we plan, build, and operate our electric system.
In addition, the intern may have the chance to observe the design and functionality of substations, or observe linemen constructing projects that ensure reliable electric service to our community.
This internship is more than just a summer job – it’s part of our commitment to developing the skills needed for success in our community’s up-and-coming workforce.
For those who think they might be interested but first would like to learn more about utility careers, we also offer job shadow opportunities. High school and college students in our service area can spend a half-day with us, getting an idea of what it’s like working in the electric utility industry. This can be a great way to see if this career path might be a good fit for you.
