Engineering Internship Program

Over the next decade, the electric utility industry will hire many of today’s best and brightest students to fill jobs left empty by the retirement of over half of the industry’s workforce.

The PUD’s Utility Engineering Internship Program offers engineering students who reside in the utility’s service area a chance to learn about utility careers through direct work experience.

Utility Engineering Careers

System Engineer

Provides engineering and project management for transmission, substation and distribution system projects. Completes sectionalizing and long-range system planning studies and designs electricity distribution system changes or enhancements to meet future needs.

Qualifications: Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering – Power or Energy Systems Option

Salary Range: $116,000 – $166,000

Field Engineer

Design electrical distribution facilities, including creating cost estimates, specifications, and construction drawings. Works with customers who are building new homes or businesses.

Qualifications: Associate’s degree in Electrical Engineering Technology

Salary Range: $73,000 – $117,000

Who Can Apply

High school seniors and college students who reside within the PUD’s service area and can demonstrate their interest in and pursuit of utility engineering careers.
