August 13, 2018 – A downed tree knocked out power to Columbia River PUD customers in St. Helens and Columbia City on August 12.

A tree fell through power lines near West and N. 12th streets in St. Helens around 2:30 p.m., causing an outage in north St. Helens and for 50 PUD customers in Columbia City. Total, 1,073 customers were affected.

PUD crews removed the tree from the lines and restored power to 60 customers around 4:00 p.m. All but four of the remaining customers had their power restored at 9:10 p.m.

The four customers still without power on August 13 had sustained damage to equipment on their homes as a result of the fallen tree; additional repairs were needed.

The PUD would like to remind you to stay away from downed power lines. Always assume that power lines are energized, and stay at least 200 feet away.

Never touch a tree or branch that is touching a power line, as it can also become energized.

If you see a downed power line, please call Columbia River PUD at (503) 397-1844.
