Crash Causes Outage on Pittsburg Road

July 22, 2015 – A car ran into a power pole on Pittsburg Road near the Woodland Terrace intersection at 11:20 p.m. on Tuesday, July 21. The crash damaged the pole and initially caused outages for four Columbia River People’s Utility District (PUD) customers.

Linemen from the PUD de-energized the Pittsburg Road power line at 1:45 a.m. so they could transfer equipment from the broken pole to a new pole. This caused an hour-long outage for 735 customers. The linemen then moved an underground cable to the new pole and restored power to the remaining four customers at 3:55 a.m.

The PUD will bill the driver of the car for the repair expenses.
