Go Green With Choice Energy Wind Power
Every time you turn on a light, or watch TV, or use your computer, you can help protect the environment. Electricity generated by renewable resources such as wind helps to create a cleaner environment by reducing air pollution and C02 production.
You can support the development of new, renewable energy resources in Oregon by signing up for Choice Energy Wind Power.
The electricity purchased through the Choice Energy program comes from three wind farms in Eastern Oregon. When you sign up for Choice Energy, you encourage development of additional wind power farms and other renewable energy projects, like the new solar project at St. Helens High School.
To date, nearly 300 PUD residential and business customers have signed up for Choice Energy. Together, these customers are purchasing 2.2 million kWh of wind power, and helping to ensure a greener future for the Northwest.
Choice Energy Plans
Columbia Waves - Purchase 100 kilowatt-hour (kWh) “blocks” of wind power for $2 each per month.
Chinook Breeze - Buy all your electricity from wind farms for an additional 1.5¢ per kWh per month. ($15 more for a residential customer using 1,000 kWh of electricity.)

Building an ENERGY STAR® qualified home makes it simple to build the house of your dreams and enjoy the peace of mind that comes from knowing you’ll have a home that is up to 30% more efficient than homes built to state code.
An ENERGY STAR home is a smart investment that provides improved comfort and value. To learn more about ENERGY STAR homes, contact our Energy Experts at (503) 366-5470 or experts @crpud.org, or visit www.crpud.net.
Benefits of ENERGY STAR Homes
Even temperatures from room to room. Well-sealed duct systems reduce air leaks and help maintain even room temperatures.
Performance tested. Before receiving the ENERGY STAR label, the home’s high-efficiency heating and cooling systems are inspected to verify proper installation for best performance.
Warm water for less. High-efficiency water heaters have extra insulation to keep water in the tank hotter, longer.
Clean savings. ENERGY STAR qualified dishwashers save 1,000 gallons of water a year.
Bright ideas for every room. At least half of the lighting is ENERGY STAR qualified, using up to 75% less energy.
A welcome view. ENERGY STAR qualified windows reduce heat flow for greater comfort and lower energy costs. Some brands even provide fade protection from the sun for furniture, carpet and drapes.
Warmth and quiet. Increased insulation, properly installed, creates a living environment that’s quiet and comfortable.
Peace of mind. That’s what you get when you purchase a home that has earned the ENERGY STAR. Peace of mind in knowing that you own a home that has been performance tested and inspected to confirm that the strict requirements of ENERGY STAR have been met.
