Quiet, easy to use and energy efficient, ductless heating & cooling systems provide home heating Photo of ductless heat pump unit in living roomand cooling at a fraction of the cost of electric baseboard and wall heaters. The simplified installation process and energy efficiency associated with ductless heating & cooling systems make them an excellent option for replacing existing zonal heating systems.

Ductless Heating & Cooling systems are available from many manufacturers. Each system consists of an outside unit and one or more inside “heads” that serve zones in your home. To learn more, please go to www.goingductless.com or visit our office to see a display model.

Program Eligibility

This program is available to residential PUD customers who meet the following requirements:

  • Your primary heat source is permanently installed electric resistance heat such as wall heaters, baseboards or ceiling cable.
  • You agree to allow us to share your electricity usage information with the
    NW Ductless Heat Pump Project.
  • You agree to participate in project evaluations.

Rebates & Tax Credits

PUD Rebates

We offer a $1,000 rebate for approved installations in single family site built or floating homes.

Tax Credits

Tax credits may also be available for qualified systems.  Consult your tax adviser for rules regarding tax credits.

 

Ductless Heating & Cooling Systems Have 3 Main Parts

  • An indoor unit is mounted on a wall.
  • An outdoor unit sits on a concrete pad on the ground.
  • A remote control is used to adjust the temperature.

The indoor and outdoor units are connected by a small bundle of cables, including a refrigerant line, that require a 3-inch hole in the wall for installation.

Step-By-Step Process

  1. Contact a qualifying contractor company to arrange for a home consultation. To view a complete list of qualified contractors please visit http://www.goingductless.com.
  2. Complete a Homeowner Participation Form and return it to your contractor.
  3. Your new ductless heat pump will be installed according to the Northwest Ductless Heat Pump Project and the manufacturer's specifications. Upon completion, your installer will submit documentation to the Northwest Ductless Heat Pump Project for review.
  4. Once we receive notification from the Northwest Ductless Heat Pump Project that your installation meets project standards, we will schedule an inspection of your new system. After a satisfactory inspection, we will send you a rebate check.
