How the Electricity You Use is Generated

The Columbia River Hydropower System produces 80% of the electricity used by PUD customers. This system has provided the Northwest with inexpensive, renewable energy for the past 60 years.

Nuclear power, natural gas and coal generation make up the remaining 20% of our existing power supply. As demand for electricity grows, more resources must be built.
