Gusty Winds Cause Outages in St. Helens, Rainier

A storm cell moved through Columbia County on Monday afternoon, causing outages affecting 3,300 Columbia River PUD electric customers. 
The largest outage, which affected 2,886 customers in St. Helens, occurred at 3:02 p.m. when a fir tree limb fell across the power lines on Tualatin Street near 8th Street.  PUD crews removed the limb and restored power to all customers by 3:25 p.m.
 
An outage on Nicolai Road in Rainier affected 326 customers between 1:40p.m and 3:48 p.m.  It was also caused by a tree limb in the power lines.
 
Smaller outages occured on Forest Park Drive in Rainier and on Brinn Road in St. Helens.

Columbia River People's Utility District provides electric service to 18,560 customers in Columbia and Multnomah Counties in Oregon.

The PUD employs 50 people and had FY2009 gross revenues of $26.9 million.
