Columbia River PUD Plans Roof Repairs
December 14, 2009
Columbia River People's Utility District (PUD) recently awarded a $322,675 contract to Payne Construction Inc., Portland, for roof repairs at the PUD's headquarters in Deer Island.
"We are pleased to be working with the PUD," said Payne Construction owner Dean Payne, a Scappoose resident. "It's always nice when you can do a job in your own community."
The repairs will address both ongoing moisture intrusion issues and roof damage caused by the December 2008 snow and ice storm.

Heavy snowfall during the December 2008 winter storm caused significant damage to the roof at the PUD headquarters.
During the December 2008 snowstorm, heavy snowfall piled up on the metal roof and tore sections of the enclosed gutter and fascia from the building eves.
Lower Columbia Engineering, St. Helens, provided architectural and design services for the repairs. The new gutter/roof extension is designed to prevent snow damage and to reduce moisture problems associated with the building's cinder block exterior walls.
At the request of the PUD, Payne Construction has established accounts with local vendors for project supplies and materials as required for the project.
"Our headquarters facility is nearing 20 years in age. These repairs will keep the facility in good working order so that it may continue to serve this community for many years to come," said PUD General Manager Kevin Owens.
