PUD Offering Utility Industry, Community Service Scholarships
February 6, 2009
Columbia River PUD is now accepting applications for its Utility Industry and Community Service Scholarship Programs.
The Utility Industry Scholarship was introduced in 2008. It is a $1,000 scholarship that is renewable for a second year. Applicants are asked to write an essay explaining why they plan to pursue a career in the electric utility industry. They must also identify the specific program they plan to enroll in and what school they will be attending.
"There are many rewarding careers available in the electric utility industry," said PUD General Manager Kevin Owens. "We hope this scholarship will help us attract the best and the brightest students."
The Community Service Scholarship is a $1,000 scholarship intended to recognize outstanding community service during a student's high school career.
Applications are available in the counseling offices of local high schools, at the PUD office and at www.crpud.net. The application deadline is March 13, 2009.
