PUD Sponsors Free Transportation to County Fair
July 7, 2008
Columbia River People's Utility District (PUD) is sponsoring free transportation for seniors and disabled people to the Columbia County Fair on Wednesday, July 16th, for Senior Day.
Columbia River Rider will provide round-trip transportation from the senior centers and assisted living facilities in Clatskanie, Rainier, Scappoose, St. Helens and Vernonia. Riders will be delivered to the fair's main gate at 10:00 a.m. Busses will load for departure at 3:00 p.m.
Those wishing to ride the bus should contact their local senior center to sign up.
"We want seniors from all our communities to be able to come to the fair Wednesday, for Senior Day, and support their princess in the My Fair Lady pageant," said PUD spokesperson Sherry Welter.
The My Fair Lady pageant is held during the Columbia County Fair each year to recognize senior women for their outstanding service in our community. The PUD organizes the pageant each year in conjunction with the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program and the Columbia River Fire and Rescue.
