PUD Offering Community Service, Utility Industry Scholarships

January 28, 2008

Columbia River PUD is now offering two types of scholarships to graduating seniors from local high schools:

  • Four $1,000 scholarships to recognize students for their outstanding community service efforts
  • Six $1,000 scholarships for students who intend to pursue a career in the utility industry

The utility industry scholarship is new this year. It is available to students who intend to pursue a career at an electric utility. Applicants must identify the specific program they plan to enroll in and what school they will be attending.

"There are many rewarding careers available in an electric utility," said PUD General Manager Kevin Owens. "We hope this scholarship will help us attract the best and the brightest to our industry."

Applications are available in the counseling offices local high schools, at the PUD office in Deer Island and on the PUD's website. The application deadline is March 14.
