PUD Offering Community Involvement Scholarships

Columbia River People’s Utility District (PUD) is offering four $1,500 college scholarships to graduating seniors from local high schools.

The PUD Board of Directors awards the scholarships to graduating seniors to recognize them for their outstanding community service throughout their high school careers. Scholarship applicants will be asked to explain how they have made a difference in the community and to list their community involvement activities. All seniors living within the PUD’s service area and who have a minimum accumulated 2.5 GPA may apply.

Applications are available in the counseling offices of Scappoose, St. Helens and Rainier High Schools, at South Columbia Learning Center, at the PUD office in Deer Island and on the PUD's website.

To apply, students must complete the application and mail it with the attachments to: Columbia River PUD Scholarship Team, P.O. Box 1193, St. Helens, OR 97051. Applications must be received by 5:00 p.m. March 15, 2007. Incomplete applications will not be considered. The PUD’s Scholarship Team will interview the finalists and choose a recipient from each school.

Columbia River People's Utility District provides electric service to 17,800 customers in Columbia and Multnomah Counties in Oregon.

The PUD employs 48 people and had FY2005 gross revenues of $27 million.
